Press Release of AIRF on Railway Budget 2010 – 2011

Shri Shiva Gopal Mishra, General Secretary, All India Railwaymen’s Federation, has welcomed the Rail Budget 2010-11, particularly for increasing per capita Staff Benefit Fund from Rs.350 to Rs.500, extension of Safety Related Retirement Scheme to all employees working in Grade Pay of Rs.1800 of safety categories, opening of Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, Technical and Management Institutes besides Medical and Nursing Colleges for the benefit of wards of the Railway employees, super-speciality medical facilities to the Railway employees and their families.
Shri Mishra appreciated the above-mentioned announcements made by the Hon’ble Minister for Railways in her Rail Budget 2010-11. But at the same time, opposed the move of operations of freight trains by private operators.
He said that, for the safe running of the trains and National security, operation and maintenance of trains and track should remain with the Railwaymen.
